Bathtime

Annie & Amos are very similar in their likes & dislikes except for one thing -- bathtime.  

I think it's pretty apparent which one loves taking a bath (and which one hates it) from the photos that we took tonight.

A new post -- finally!

For those of you who were wondering whether I had fallen off the face of the earth, please know that I haven't. Things have just been a little on the busy side the past few weeks (or should I say months?), and to be honest, I really haven't had a chance to get on the computer and blog. Well, I guess I should be honest and admit that I have had time to get on the computer, but instead of blogging, I chose to do really important thing like search for furniture on craigslist and stalk people on facebook. Anyway, a certain sister of mine told me this weekend that I had not blogged in a long time, and a certain husband of mine told that he knew that I would I get tired of blogging at some point, so in order to please that certain sister (and prove that certain husband wrong), here is your update.

Ben's birthday was this past Saturday (yes, he is a Valentine's baby), and we had a great time celebrating -- although it was fairly low key. We started out the day by meeting his parents for lunch at Chili's and then spent the rest of the day shopping for doggie doors. I agree that this does not sound like it should be an all-day event, but until you have shopped for a doggie door, you truly have no idea how many options there are. Small, medium, large, extra large, insulated, non insulated, vinyl flap, plastic flap, magnet, no magnet, "nylon fur draft restrictor", no "nylon fur draft restrictor"... So many decisions. And to top it off, because our back door is solid glass, we will also have to to replace it with a door that is only half glass. More decisions. However, the biggest decision of all was whether to get the medium or the large door. Although Annie is a "medium" sized dog, we all know that she doesn't really have the hourglass figure that she so desperately wants. Therefore, we decided to buy both doors and take them home to try out for size. We want a door that Annie is able to fit through but that a human cannot, so needless to say, all 4 of us tried the doggie doors out for size. Annie and Amos are both able to fit through the medium door, which is a good thing because both Ben and I were able to fit through the large door. After crawling through the dog doors, we finished off the birthday celebration by eating pizza and cake and playing a little bit of Xbox 360. Like I said -- it was very low key. :)

On Sunday, we woke up early and headed downtown to watch Holly run her 2nd half marathon. Because my mom and I somehow missed Holly cross the finish line at her 1st one, we were determined to see her not just once but SEVERAL times during this race. It definitely required a lot more work on our part, but it paid off as we got to see her (and yell for her while holding our beautiful posters above our heads) 3 different times. Pretty good if you ask me. Needless to say, she did wonderfully. She finished in 1:52:58 (does the thought of running for 2 hours make anyone else sick?). I'm pretty sure she finished her 1st half marathon in 1:53:30, so she beat her personal record by a whopping 32 seconds. Way to go, Holly!

Later that afternoon, we got together with my family and my grandmothers for lunch at Texas Land and Cattle. We then went to G's house to open birthday and Valentine's presents. Ben got some new clothes for work, candy, and some spending money, and I got a beautiful red shirt for work, homemade chocolate strawberries (they are as good as they sound), candy, and a little bit of cash. Pretty good for a "Hallmark holiday", huh? :)
