An Eventful Weekend

This past weekend was eventful....to say the least.

On Friday night, we went to dinner at El Mercado and then to the IMAX theater to see "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian". While the Mexican food was just "okay", the movie was awesome! Ben and I both agreed that it was even better than the first one. We absolutely loved it.

Sometime between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, the three eggs that were in the nest in our front yard hatched. Three beautiful (and extremely hungry) baby Mockingbirds were born, and we named them Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Actually, I named them. Ben's response was, "Sounds good." :)

All day Saturday and Sunday, Ben and I worked on our front flower bed. Ben has been in the process of building a rock/brick planter in the front yard for the past few weeks, and it is now officially finished. Yay! We thinned out the bushes that the builder had planted (there were originally 14 total -- yikes!) and planted some pink Vincas and yellow Lantana.

Sunday evening both of our families came over to help us celebrate Amos' first birthday. Ben grilled fajitas, and Amos and Annie shared a yummy dog cake that I baked from scratch (what a good mom....). Amos even received quite a few presents. I can't even imagine how spoiled the real grandbabies will be. Needless to say, it was quite the party, and both pups passed out just minutes after everyone left.

And last, but not least, I finished reading "Twilight". I'll admit that I was a little skeptical before I started it, but I loved it. I'm looking forward to watching the movie (and seeing if the actors/actresses look like I imagined them) and can't wait to read the second book....and the third and the fourth.

Well, that about sums it up. Until next time.....

Well, there you have it. Two blog posts in two days. Pretty impressive if you ask me. :)

And for those of you who came to the blog to see some "real" pictures, here's what I found Annie and Amos doing when I returned from Target.

I'm pretty sure that this is what they do all day while Ben and I are working. They've got it so rough...

Walmart Shopping Trip

I have recently received several requests to update the blog and several others to send out copies of the coupons that I am currently using to buy my groceries. So, in order to kill two birds with one stone, I have decided to blog about my most recent trip to Walmart.

Here's what I bought during this afternoon's trip.

Before coupons, the total have been $40.66, but using coupons, I got all of this for $23.36. I saved $17.30 or 43% off of the original total. Cool, huh? I was pretty excited, which I guess was a little obvious. As I was leaving Walmart, the greeter asked me, "Did you have fun?" My reply was, "Of course!"

Here is a list of the coupons that I used.

Please note that most of these coupons can be printed twice at a single computer (each website will tell you when you have reached the max number of prints). Also, if you see a coupon on the website that you want, print it NOW. Coupons will mysteriously disappear from these websites at any given time (I think it has to do with when their quota is met), so it's best to print them as soon as you see them. Also, I have not done a very good job of keeping track of the particular Sunday newspaper insert from which each coupon was clipped, but I promise to do better in the future. My suggestion to you is to save both the Smart Source and Red Plum inserts that come in the Sunday newspaper so that you will have all of them on-hand. Just make sure that you keep track of the date of each particular insert.
