Hyatt Lost Pines -- Jackson's first vacation!!!

This past weekend, we went to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort & Spa in Bastrop, and we had a great time!  It was Jackson's first vacation, so we weren't really sure what to expect, but he did awesome, and I am so glad that we went!  He ate great, slept like a champ, rarely fussed, and was super happy.  It doesn't get much better than that -- especially when you're just under 5 months old!
We took this trip with the other families in our Sunday School class and really enjoyed spending the weekend with them.  There were 14 adults and 9 kids under the age of 3 {!!!}, but at a resort like this, we fit right in.
We got there late Friday afternoon, and after getting settled into our room, we ate dinner out on the patio of one of the restaurants with the Crisps and the Battles while Jackson took a nap in his stroller.  We then walked around outside for a little bit and made s'mores before heading back to the room to put Jackson down for the night.
We gave him a shower, which he was a little unsure of at first, and then put him down in the pack & play with the baby monitor so that we could join our friends just outside on the back patio.  The set-up worked great, and Jackson slept so well.  He went down later than normal both nights that we were there {9 pm on Friday and 10 pm on Saturday} and got up at 7:30-8ish -- although he did get up once each night at 4:30 am.  I went ahead and fed him since he was in a strange place, but hopefully this isn't the new norm. ;)

On Saturday morning Ben went golfing with a few of the other guys, and after Jackson and I took a morning stroll around the grounds, we spent the rest of the day at the pool.

I was a little unsure as to how things would go with both naps and feedings, but thankfully, we were able to do everything right there at the pool, and apparently he was having so much fun, he didn't go down for his nap till about noon {a 4-hour stretch -- his longest yet!}.  It was about that same time that the guys were finishing up with their game of golf, so we went inside to enjoy some lunch {and a nap} in the AC.  We didn't leave the pool till late that afternoon, and Jackson took a quick catnap in the room while Ben and I got ready for dinner.  Our group had reservations at one of the family-friendly restaurants {for obvious reasons}, and after dinner, we headed back outside.
We ended up hanging out till it was time to make s'mores again and then watched the movie "Ice Age: Continental Drift" on the lawn.  The hotel staff was selling all sorts of overpriced light-up toys {glow sticks, guns, etc}, but thankfully, someone had warned us ahead of time, so we took some glow sticks with us.  Ben's parents were actually the ones that bought them, and since they buy them in bulk for the concerts and in packages of 100, there was plenty to go around!  Jackson loved the glow sticks almost as much as the big kids did, but don't worry, grandparents -- we didn't let him chew on them even though it kind of looks like it in the picture below. ;)  The movie didn't start till almost 9, so we ended up heading back to our room before the it was over, but thankfully, Jackson is still too young to know the difference.
Yesterday morning, we went to the breakfast buffet, and after checking out of our room, we headed down to the pool with the intention to spend the afternoon there.  Jackson started to get fussy as we were packing up our stuff, and unfortunately, it was touch-and-go for the next couple of hours.  Exhibit A...
He napped for a little bit and then got in the water.
When it was time to feed him though, he decided to have a complete meltdown, and that's when I knew that the vacation was over.  We loaded up our stuff and headed home.  Thankfully, it wasn't but a 40-minute drive, and Jackson slept the whole way home and then took a 3-hour nap in his crib!  Thankfully, he woke up in the best mood, so we spent the rest of the evening just hanging out with him and playing on the floor.  Just in the past couple of weeks, he has mastered rolling over from his tummy to his back, so we are now working on back-to-tummy, and he is so close!
Our little weekend getaway really was so perfect.  Before this trip, both Ben and I wondered if going on vacation with a baby would even be fun, but the truth is -- Jackson made it even more fun!  Both Ben and I agree that the best vacation that we've ever been on was our trip to Belize, and as Ben put it, this past weekend was right up there with that.  Baby's 1st vacation was a SUCCESS! :)
