See Jane Run...Or Not

My alarm went off early this morning.  5 o'clock to be exact.  I had signed up to run the See Jane Run half marathon with Holly, Molly, and most of the ladies in my running group, so when I heard the sound of pouring rain OVER the sound of my alarm clock, I was pretty bummed.  I realize that Austin hasn't had a good rain in several months, but did it have to be today?  The timing could not have been worse.

Unfortunately, the race ended up being cancelled, but we didn't get word of that until we had already met up at one of the lady's houses in Mueller {since she lives less than 1/2 of a mile from what was supposed to be the start line}.  When the email came through saying that the race had been cancelled, that it would not be rescheduled, and that they would not be giving any refunds, we were all pretty disappointed -- but we decided to make the most of it.  Since most of us were already dressed alike in our new shirts and ready to run, it only took a little bit of peer pressure to convince the group to do a short run before eating our delicious potluck breakfast {3 miles in the cold rain wasn't bad, but I don't think I would have wanted to do much more than that}.  We spent the rest of the morning eating breakfast and sipping mimosas, and on the way home, we stopped by the Courtyard Marriott Downtown for the champagne reception and to pick up our chocolate.  All in all, it was a bummer that we didn't get to run the 13.1 miles {I never thought I'd ever same something so lame as that}, but we still had a good time, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Ben and I spent the rest of the day just relaxing around the house.  We watched a movie, and Annie and Amos spent most of their day under their fort.

Bubbs was pretty sick on Friday {so sick that Ben had to take him to the vet...and steam clean the carpet}, so it was good that he took it easy again today.
Tonight we had a delicious dinner -- steak, squash, and mashed potatoes, and while I was doing the dishes, Ben accidentally dropped his wedding ring into the couch.  He had to take the bottom of the couch apart in order to find it, but thankfully, I was able to stick my hand through a little opening and pull it out.
Ben said that I'd look back at this later and laugh, and although I know he's right, I'm just hoping that he one day kicks his bad habit of taking off his wedding ring and playing with it.  However, I do realize that if that's all I have to complain about that I have it pretty good. ;)

I can't believe another weekend is already over.  I know that I've said this before, but life is going by way too fast these days!
