Everyone warned me that each stage would go fast, and they were so right. Watching you grow and learn is so much fun, but I really wish it would slow down a little. I love watching your little personality develop though, and I seriously think you get cuter and cuter with every day that passes.
You are quickly becoming your own little person, and I love that. I usually think a baby looks exactly like one of their parents, but to me, you really don't look exactly like either one of us. You're just you -- a perfect combination of both.
You definitely have my nose and my coloring, and you definitely have your dad's legs and feet {although he doesn't have the rolls or the dimples that you do -- haha}. You're a big baby just like your Uncle Josh was, and your Mimi and I think you look so much like some of your Aunt Holly's baby pictures {I think it's your big gummy grin}.
Before you were born, I was a very task-oriented person, but now that you're here, I really try to do my best to put all of my to-do lists aside and to enjoy every moment and soak up each day. I never would have imagined that having a baby would change my life as much as it has, but even on the hard days, I absolutely love being your mom. You make my life so much richer, and I love you so, so much!
Love,
Your Mom
{4 MONTH STATS}
Measurements:
- Weight: 17 pounds 8.5 ounces
- Length: 25.75 inches
Sizes:
- Clothes: mostly 6 months and some 6-9 months
- Diapers: size 2 during the day and size 3 at night {but we're moving up to size 3 completely as soon as we're done with this box}
- Shoes: size 2
Eating: You still eat every 3 hours, but you don't eat quite as much these days as your did a month or so ago. I'm pretty sure you were going through a crazy growth spurt right at 3 months. These days, you drink about 6 ounces during each feeding except for your early morning feeding when you take about 4 ounces. Overall, I think you get about 34 ounces a day. You are a great eater, and I am so thankful. I really am so proud of every pound that you gain. One of the ladies in yoga asked how old you were, and when I answered, she said "oh wow, he's healthy!" Yes, you are very healthy, and I am so glad!
Sleeping: Thankfully you are still such a great sleeper. We give you a bath at about 8 pm, feed you one last time, and put you down for the night at about 9 pm. You sleep about 9 hours, wake up for a small feeding at 6 am and then go back down for another couple more hours. This schedule isn't much different from how things were going a month or so ago, but things have certainly changed over the past month. At about 3.5 months, you were sleeping from 9 pm to 9 am {a 12-hour stretch!!!}, but unfortunately at about that same time, you also figured out how to get your arms out of the Miracle Blanket {the inside swaddle of your double swaddle}, and it all went downhill from there. Cheryl showed us how to "pin" your arms down using a blanket, and in addition to that, we now wrap you in a SleepSack Swaddle {without pulling your arms through the armholes}. Thankfully, you aren't able to get your arms out of that and went right back to sleeping till 6 am again, but I was really sad to say goodbye to the 12-hour stretch. As for naps, you're still only up for about 1.5 to 2 hours after you eat before I put you down for a nap. Your biggest cue is rubbing your face against my jawline. When you start doing that, I know to put you down immediately, and for the most part, you don't even fuss. You just talk to yourself for a few minutes and then fall right to sleep. You're still not on a very strict schedule, but you do have somewhat of a routine when it comes to your naps and are usually asleep from about 10 am to 11 am, 1 pm to 1:30 pm, and 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
Likes:
- Talking to yourself -- either in your crib after you wake up or in the backseat of the car
- Pushing up on your legs and standing {for short periods of time}
- Going on walks around Town Lake in your stroller and looking up at the trees
- Reaching out and grabbing for your toys
- Putting your toys {and everything else!} in your mouth
- Snuggling with your puppy and monkey security blankets
- Riding around on my hip instead of my shoulder
- Doing baby yoga {raising your arms over your head and back down, opening your arms out and then crossing them, and touching your hand with the opposite foot}
- Riding around in the "motor boat" during your swim lessons {a.k.a. tummy time in the water}
Dislikes:
- Having your shirt pulled over your head
- Taking your acid reflux medicine
- Being put in your swing or bouncer or on your quilt if one of us is not right there to entertain you
And for those of you wondering how I was able to get such good pictures this month, the answer is...
...a little help from Daddy and kisses from Mr. Giraffe. ;)
