This month has definitely been my most favorite month so far. You have changed so much this month, and you've learned so many new things. A couple of weeks ago, you started crawling on your hands and knees, and you are FAST! You pull up on everything and cruise along all of our furniture. You even try to move between from one piece to the next, which has already landed you a couple of bumps and bruises. You are all boy -- that's for sure!
You also started giving high-fives and waving bye-bye this month. I had always waved your hand for you and said "bye bye" whenever anyone left, so when your dad left to pick up dinner one night, and I said "say bye bye, dada", you waved. I got so excited, and you were pretty proud of yourself, too. It was so cute! You also started giving us kisses this month, and although they're still a little more open-mouth and with-tongue than we'd prefer, it's a start. ;) You even gave kisses to the Santa doll in your room a couple nights before bed, and you gave lots of kisses to {your great} Grandma on Christmas morning.
This month, you started calling us "mama" and "dada" {as opposed to just saying those words in general}, and of course, we both love that! Whenever you're ready to eat or go down for a nap, you'll crawl over to my feet and fuss "mama, mama..." until I pick you up. When you were really little, I used to text your dad to let him know that I was done with your last feeding so that he could come in and help me put you to bed. The past couple of months, I've just been hollering "dada" through the door, and for the first time this month, you sat up as soon as you were done, looked at the door, and said "dada". You do it pretty regularly now, and as soon as your dad opens your bedroom door, you are both grinning ear-to-ear.
This month, you also outsmarted me -- although I'm pretty sure it's not the first time. The past couple of months, I've been able to get you to smile for the camera by doing a fake laugh, but this month, you caught on. Now you just look at me and do your own fake laugh, which is definitely funny, but not really what I'm going for when I'm wanting to take a picture. You've also started scrunching your nose up and sniffing, which is the cutest thing. I think it all started when your dad would pretend to make Puppy Lovey sniff you at night, but it is definitely a "thing" now. If we sniff, you do it right back to us, and if you do it first, you won't stop until we do it, too.
I asked your dad the other days what his favorite thing is these days, and he said that he loves when you are really proud of yourself for doing something that we think is funny. You love to mimic us and repeat various sounds these days, and your favorite one is definitely a monkey sound. My favorite thing is your facial expressions. Apparently you've caught on to my excitement of Christmas because now when we ask you "where's Santa?", your jaw drops, your eyes get big, and you make a slight gasp. It is just as cute as it sounds, and I have a feeling this excited look is going to be your new "thing" for awhile.
Although it looks like you're snacking on a cookie in the picture above, it's actually just the lens cap to my camera. You did get your first piece of cookie this month though -- a piece of sugar cookie while you were at Mimi's house. She said that you loved it, and I'm not surprised. ;) You also tried Ritz crackers, queso, and pumpkin pie {all of which you loved!} this month, and come to find out, you're not a fan of Cheetos. Thankfully you are doing much better as far as eating goes, and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that we're giving you more of the foods that we eat. You still nurse or take a bottle 4 times a day, and you eat 3 meals. As far as your eating schedule, I nurse you or give you a bottle as soon as you wake up and then feed you breakfast {yogurt mixed with cereal and fruit puree, cheerios, and some fruit} about an hour later. You nurse before going down for your morning nap, eat lunch {veggie puree, chicken or turkey, and some fruit} when you get up, and then nurse again before going down for your afternoon nap. Your dinner looks very similar to your lunch {although a slightly different variation}, and then I nurse you or give you a bottle one last time before you go to bed. We're still giving you 6 tablespoons of cereal each day for the iron, and thankfully, we're able to now mix 3 of those with your morning yogurt, so we only have to give you one bottle with the other 3 mixed in per day.
As far as sleeping goes, things were going great all month, and then we got you off schedule with all of our Christmas celebrations. You were up late on Christmas Eve, and then you missed your afternoon nap on both Christmas Day and the day after Christmas. Your schedule was a little off for a few days after that, but thankfully, you're just about back on track. You usually sleep through the night now {knock on wood} and wake up around 8:00 a.m. You still take two naps -- from around 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and then again from around 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We usually start your bath/bedtime routine at about 7:15 p.m. and put you in bed at 8:00 p.m. Thankfully, you still go to down so easily -- you almost never fuss and just usually play with your Puppy Lovey and whatever other stuffed animal you've chosen to sleep with for a few minutes before drifting off.
Words cannot express how much I love you, baby boy. You mean the world to me, and I hope you always know that.
Love,
Momma

And just so you don't think that you are as calm and cooperative as you appear in these pictures, here are just a few of our outtakes. Obviously, you are no longer a fan of the "laying across the chair on your back" pose.
You are also not a huge fan of sitting down, and it's a good thing that I was right there because you....
....are........CRAZY!
You never fell a single time during this photo shoot {I had my hand on you at all times!}, but needless to say, you tried your hardest!
