Loving on Spiders & Sharing Eggs

Thankfully this week wasn't as crazy busy as some of the past couple have been.  I was able to spend a lot of quality time with my favorite little guy, and we didn't really have much going on the evenings either, so Ben and I even got to bed at a decent hour a couple of nights, too -- which at this point in our lives is just one of the best things ever.

This week, we decided to go check out Rollingwood Park.  I kept hearing about this park from various friends recently, and one of them even mentioned that it was her very favorite, and now that I've been there, I have agree -- it's pretty awesome!  It's not quite "Zilker awesome", but for a neighborhood park, it's pretty nice.  There are two big playgrounds {one being designed for the younger kids, so of course, Jackson likes the other one}, and a huge {enclosed} field behind them that is perfect for running around.
And the road construction that was going on in front of the parking lot was just icing on the cake.
We sat there for quite some time just watching the guys work.
I was bored...but Jackson was mesmerized...and annoyed with my picture taking.
Thankfully we did make it to the park eventually though.
Jackson's PR for slide height.
Of course, we had to stop back by the road construction on the way out though.
While sitting there, I noticed a spider {one of the tiniest I have ever seen} crawling on my hand {like I said...I was bored}.  I pointed it out to Jackson and even put it in his hand, and he immediately fell in love.  Unfortunately, we lost it soon after though, so Jackson spent the rest of the day/week saying "uh oh, spider" and "bye-bye, spider"}.
After the spider was gone, he insisted that he get a closer seat...
...and even set "Puppy" down next to him so he could watch, too.
This week, we also met up with my friends from high school, Rebekah and her daughter Olivia.  We went to iPlay, which is an indoor place filled with various bounce houses.  Rebekah and I have only gotten together one other time since high school {when Jackson and Olivia were just babies}, so obviously we had a lot to catch up on, which was a little difficult with two kids running in opposite directions.
It was fun, and of course, Jackson had a great time!  He was literally nonstop motion, and as Rebekah pointed out, he never stopped running for the entire 2 hours that we were there.  Welcome to my world.  Every day = operation: wear him out.
They also had a little toddler toy area, and these roller coaster toys, which were a hit.  I told Jackson not to go yet so that I could take their picture, which I'm pretty sure is why Olivia is giving me a look that says "wait a second...I thought you told him not to go".
A little blurry...but tongue out = total concentration.
We also spent some time painting {with water and dots, of course}.
And one of the nights that Ben had to work late, Jackson and I treated ourselves to a bowl of ice cream after dinner.  I obviously made him a smaller bowl than I made myself, but he kept saying "mo" and taking ice cream out of my bowl and putting it into his, so in the end, I'm pretty sure he ended up eating even more than I did.
And I never before thought about the fact that I drink the last little bit until Jackson tipped his bowl up, too.
We also had a breakthough this week.  When Jackson was about a year old, we realized that he was allergic to eggs.  Of course, this was right about the time he started to really like them, and every time he would eat a plain egg {scrambled, hard boiled, etc.}, he would break out in hives around his mouth.  The hard part about this is the fact that eggs are one of my very favorite foods and my go-to for breakfast.  I usually try to eat them when Jackson is not paying attention, but on the occasions that he notices, I of course have to give him a piece or two.  Recently though I read that people who are allergic are more allergic to the egg whites than they are the yolks, so on this particular morning, I decided to do a little experimenting.  I gave him the two eggs from my breakfast, which he downed in record time, and guess what -- no hives!  We were both shocked...
...and very excited!
Annie and Jackson have something in common...they both LOVE sticks, and there is something so sweet about watching your baby play his dog.
This week was definitely a good one.  As the saying goes, "it's the little moments that make life big", and my heart is so full.
