Now that Jackson goes to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays {and is at my mom's house on Mondays and Wednesdays}, Fridays are the only mornings that we have a chance to get out and do something. This past Friday, I decided to take Jackson swimming at Deep Eddy. I was a little nervous about taking both boys by myself, but I really wanted to treat Jackson {and myself} to something fun, so I gave myself a quick pep talk, got everyone dressed and fed, and loaded up the car. Meanwhile, Jackson kept himself busy by pulling everything out of the pantry to "make somethin".
What you can't see in this picture is our enormous pool bag. Wide load coming through.
Going for a swim isn't nearly as easy as it used to be, but as soon as I walked in and caught a glimpse of this view, all of the work that it took to get us there was suddenly worth it.
Rumor has is that Deep Eddy is the oldest pool in Texas and is fed by a hand-dug 35-foot well, which means that the water is cold, but it felt so great. I hadn't been there in quite awhile {high school maybe?}, and it was even prettier than I remembered. Thankfully, Jackson loved it, too. He was a big fan of the beach entrance, and there were quite a few other moms and kids there, so he had a great time playing and sharing toys with all of them. I wore Dean in the Ergo carrier the whole time, so I was only able to get in thigh-deep, but it was enough to cool me off and keep me and Dean from profusely sweating all over each other, too.
Lounging by the pool is sooooo exhausting.
Last night, we marched in the Pride Parade with our church as a way of showing our community what true fellowship is all about. We met up for dinner beforehand and then made our way to the other side of the Capitol to get in position. Our float was 100th in line, so it took awhile to get started, but the whole experience was truly amazing. There were so many people there -- both marching in the parade and standing on both sides of the street for the entire mile. Our group definitely stuck out and was a crowd-favorite for sure. I can almost guarantee that we had both the oldest {i.e. lots of blue-hairs} and the youngest {i.e. Dean} people there, and all three of our pastors were there, too -- giving high-fives and sharing a special moment with as many people as they could. We pushed Dean in the stroller in the beginning, but eventually Ben took him out -- partly to keep him happy but mostly to just show him off. Dean was definitely a hit, and as our friends Trevor and Davis pointed out, our family presence was unexpected and often brought tears of joy to the spectators' eyes.
And while we slept in this morning, Josh, Catherine, and Jackson all wore each other out swimming.

Only the best diaper changes come with free entertainment.
Life isn't all sunshine and rainbows though. The crab onesie is fitting, don't you think?
A fussy baby by day leads to an evening of take-out, water balloons, and an early bedtime..
Yesterday morning, we decided to hit up another city pool and chose Northwest Pool, which is in our neighborhood. We got there early enough to play on the playground before the pool opened and then spent the rest of the morning in the water. Of course, Jackson loved having Ben there, and we took turns holding Dean and swimming with Jackson, which worked out so well. Getting a picture of my three boys together wasn't easy though. I might need to start working on my Photoshop skills.Lounging by the pool is sooooo exhausting.

Apparently being carried through a parade is exhausting, too.
We really wanted to take Jackson to the parade {music, dancing, glow sticks, and candy are totally up his alley}, but since it didn't start till 8 o'clock, we knew that he would never make it. Instead, he spent the night at Pops and Memaw's house, which is always a pretty awesome consolation prize. And while we slept in this morning, Josh, Catherine, and Jackson all wore each other out swimming.
The big brother and the little brother...
This evening, we headed back up to church to serve dinner to the homeless families staying the week as a part of Family Promise. Kaycee and Brandon had signed up to serve with us, so while we ate dinner with and got to know our guests, the kids had a great time running around and burning off some of their never-ending energy.
The world's sweetest group hug.
And speaking of sweet, how adorable are these two? "Look Caroline...two flags with lights" as they walk the streets of downtown Austin. Never mind the fact that they were going in the wrong direction and completely tuning us out as we hollered for them to turn around.
It's hard to believe that the weekend is already over. It was a good one.
