A Nasty Cold x 2

So it turns out that both Jackson and I have a cold.  Thankfully, he is almost 100% better, and based on his series of symptoms, I think I'm just a few days behind.  It's definitely been a rough week though.

We ended up taking him to the doctor on Monday just to be on the safe side -- especially since he is still so young.  Ben actually ended up taking him since the only appointment that they had available was at the exact same time that I was scheduled to meet up with the rest of the WTS board to take new head shots and a group photo.  I sent the two of them off with all sorts of advice and pointers though.  "Make sure you get him to listen to his cough, and if he doesn't cough right away, just upset him a little and then he will."  Ben's responded with: "I'm pretty sure the doctor will know what to do, but I'll keep that mind."  Haha -- true, but I'm his MOTHER.  That means I know way more than a doctor. ;)  At his appointment, we also found out that he now weighs 12 pounds 14 ounces.  Pretty good considering he's not even 2 months old yet.

We are so thankful that it's just a cold and not something more serious, but unfortunately, there wasn't much we could do aside from what we were already doing.  Therefore, we spent a lot of the week in the steamy bathroom...

...and trying to sleep as much as we could.

On Monday night, he slept 7 hours straight {his longest stretch ever!}, and on Tuesday, I dropped him off at my mom's house so that I could meet up with the transportation group for lunch at Texas Land & Cattle.  It was so good to see everyone and catch up.  It's hard to believe that I've already been out of the office for 8 weeks.  It's going so fast!  Only 4 more weeks, and then it's back to work. :(  I had a hard time finding something to wear to lunch since I figured my usual yoga pants and t-shirt combo was not really appropriate. After trying on several things that morning that didn't fit, I couldn't help but smile when a random stranger standing outside of the restaurant commented: "I love that dress.  It looks great on you."  Granted the guy was probably my dad's age but still.  This momma's still got it. ;)  After lunch, Jackson and I spent the afternoon on the couch watching Law & Order SVU and cancelling the rest of our plans for the week.
Unfortunately Ben had to leave on Tuesday morning for a conference in San Antonio and was gone 3 days and 2 nights.  We missed him terribly {especially since we were both sick}, but I did my best to hold down the fort while he was away.

"Your baths are not nearly as much fun as my dad's are."
My little frog was not very happy about getting out of the bath...
...but thankfully, a pacifier made it all better. ;)
Tuesday night, a thunderstorm woke the dogs at up 4:30 in the morning, which unfortunately, woke up both me and Jackson up.  Needless to say, Wednesday was not off to a good start...
...but thankfully, another full day of snuggles on the couch made it better.
During one of his {many} diaper changes that day, I noticed a red mark on the back of his leg.  I wasn't sure what it was at first, but I guess that the socks that I had used to double-sock him the night before when I had put the Baby Vicks on his feet were too tight.  Poor guy!  At first I thought it had broken the skin, but I think it's actually just a few broken blood vessels, and thankfully, it doesn't seem to bother him him at all.
I'm pretty sure that he's going to hate me for this picture one day, but I love it!
"You're still not as much fun as my dad."
Thursday morning, I woke up feeling pretty bad, but thankfully this sweet guy let me sleep in a little.
I started feeling better as soon as I got a shower and some food in me, and later that morning, I finished up the bag of Twizzlers that Ben's parents had brought over last weekend.  2 pounds of Twizzlers in 5 days.  Good thing they're low fat. ;)  The package of Drumstick ice cream cones that I had -- not so much. :(
Ben's conference was over at noon, so he came home right after that, and we were SO glad to see him!  I think he was pretty excited to see us, too -- especially one of us.
Ben even brought me back a souvenir -- the extra toiletries from the hotel.  Does my husband know me or what? ;)
The dogs were super excited that Ben was home, too.  That night, he took them for a walk {actually, if you want to be technical, Ben walked Annie and Annie walked Amos -- haha}...
...and I stayed back at the house and enjoyed some peace and quiet with this guy.
This morning, Jackson woke up in such a great mood.  He was super smiley, so I decided that he was well enough to go run a few errands with me.  Despite the fact that I'm not quite feeling 100%, after spending almost the entire week at home, I was just little bit stir-crazy and read to get out of the house!
My little shopping buddy holding onto my coupon book for me. ;)
After running a couple of errands, we stopped by my mom's house to say "hi" and to feed Jackson.  I ended up letting him sleep there while I ran a couple more errands and then we headed home.
Big 8-week-old smiles for Mimi :)
Tonight, we ordered Mr. Gatti's for dinner and spent the evening just hanging out at home.  I'm so glad that Jackson is finally feeling better and am very thankful that I'm just a day or two behind.  We don't have a whole lot planned for this weekend, so hopefully we're able to do a lot of relaxing.  We're just now headed to bed after a very unsuccessful "dream feed" {his last feeding of the day before we go to bed}.  Apparently he was just too tired to eat.
I'm not gonna lie though -- I'm going to be passed out just like this in a few minutes, too.  Goodnight!
