Dear Baby J -- I can't believe that you're already 2 months old. Sometimes I wish that life would slow down a little, but with each day that passes, you interact with us more and more, which makes me even more excited about the future. Both your dad and I cannot wait until you are able to hug us back, and it's going to be so much fun when you learn to laugh and eventually talk.
Unfortunately, this past month has been a little rough. You were so fussy the first couple of weeks that we started to wonder if you might have colic, then you ended up coming down with a pretty bad cold, and now we're pretty sure you have reflux. You can go from perfectly content to screaming in a matter of seconds, but thankfully, your pediatrician gave us a prescription at your 2-month well-check appointment today, so hopefully that'll do the trick. I'm so ready to have my happy baby back!
We also found out today that you are in the 50th percentile for both height and head circumference and in the 90th percentile for weight. In other words, you are a chubby baby, but I'm not gonna lie -- I love it! I am so glad that you are such a good eater and that you are so healthy, and I absolutely LOVE all of your little rolls.
Words cannot express how proud I am to be your mom or how much I love you. I love the way that the back of your little round head feels on my lips when I kiss it, I love the gummy grins that you give me after you eat, and I love it that you recognize my voice and now look for me from across the room. You really are my VERY favorite person in the ENTIRE world.
Thanks for blessing me with another month and for making me a mom. I love you and am so glad that you're mine!
Love,
Your Mom
{2 MONTH STATS}
Measurements:
- Weight: 13 pounds 14 ounces
- Length: 23 inches
Sizes:
- Clothes: 0-3 months {although some are tight}
- Diapers: size 1
- Shoes: size 2
Sleeping: You don't sleep as much as you did your first month of life, but you still nap fairly often. You're usually up 1-1.5 hours after each feeding and then take a nap before eating again. These days, you nap in either your crib, bouncer, or swing, and if you wake up before your nap is supposed to be over, I'll put you in the baby carrier so that you'll go back to sleep. At night, you still sleep in our room, but we're planning to move you into your room soon. We always said that we'd move you into your room once you were sleeping through the night, and at this point, you consistently sleep 5-6 hours each night, and one night last week, you slept 7. We still double-swaddle you and turn on your lamb at night, but the only difference is that your dad now likes the "heart beat" sound. He said that he thinks it helps him fall asleep, too, but I've already reminded him that it's yours and that it will be going with you to your room. :)
Likes:
- Eating -- I'm pretty sure this is your very favorite thing to do!
- Being held and snuggled
- Listening to music -- especially "#34" by Dave Matthews, "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver, "Holiday in Spain" by Counting Crows, "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons, "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers, and "Diamonds on the Inside" by Ben Harper
- The front-to-back setting on your swing {yours originally swung side-to-side, but you slept so well in Rory's swing that we decided to switch yours}
- Sitting down as low as you can in your bath seat where everything but your head is submerged
- "Swimming" in the bathtub after you're clean
- Riding around in the front pouch
- Looking at the TV, which is not something I am encouraging at this age!
- Blowing spit bubbles {a very recent talent}
- Doing anything other than eating when you're hungry
- Getting out of the bathtub
- Sitting in your car seat for extended periods of time -- especially if it's not in a moving car or the stroller
"Mr. Dog, are you as annoyed with all of these pictures as I am?" ;)
