Our Week in Photos

Another wonderful week in the books, another 500+ pictures of Jackson.  I admit that is a slight exaggeration, but he is definitely my favorite subject, and sometimes I wonder how moms did it prior to the digital camera/iPhone era.  I love that I can carry my phone/camera with me at all times and can snap as many pictures as I want to ensure that I get at least one good {or semi-decent} one.  Gone are the days of being forced to only take a couple shots without knowing if you got a single good one until you got the entire roll developed, and I am so glad -- because even when our weeks are low-key, they're still worth documenting.

One evening while I was making dinner {and after the dogs had already eaten theirs}, Jackson insisted on giving Annie a "snack" -- two yogurts and some American cheese -- a.k.a. proof that he is part of the reason that she is need of losing so much weight.  Thankfully for her and her weight loss progress, the door was locked and pinned at the top.
Jackson absolutely loves playing outside with the neighborhood kids and especially loves when he's invited to "boing boing" on the Jenkins' trampoline or "dig" in the Armstrongs' sandbox.
On Tuesday, we went back to the rodeo with Mimi to show her all of our favorite things.  This time, the cows were there for show that day, and as it turns out, cow poop is just as exciting as pig poop -- at least in the eyes of  a two-year-old.
Another pig race, another bag of popcorn.
Showing Mimi the "baby chickens".
Of course, we had to stop by the petting zoo to feed the animals another "cone", and Jackson enjoyed it even more this time.  I think it helped that I held the food up until he was comfortable, but he had so much feeding them, we even went back for more.
On the way out, we stopped by the hand sanitizer station, and a certain little someone went to town.  I'm not exaggerating when I say that he used about 20 pumps and even took one to go.
That evening, we played outside while waiting for Ben to get home.  It was a beautiful day out and had warmed up quite a bit since that morning, but Jackson refused to put shorts on.  He was sweating and red in the face in no time, but thankfully, he did let me take his shirt off eventually.  Texas weather is crazy -- one day it's winter, and it's summer the next.
I told Jackson "let's take a picture for Daddy", and this was the result.
He's only two, but I guess he already knows that selfies with mom are somewhat lame.  Unless you have your gun in the picture, of course -- because apparently that does wonders for your street cred.
Just ones of the reasons that I should have been more diligent about picking up all of those falling acorns.
These days, dinner is considered a success if Jackson will eat any part of it -- even if it's just the taco filling itself!
Oh, you know, just your typical walk around the block.  I suggested the stroller, and we left with this.
A stick in one hand and a car on a "leash" in the other.  I can only imagine what the neighbors thought.
This morning, Jackson was up at 4:45 and never went back down, so you can imagine what the start of our day looked like.  With the recent temperature increase and my realization that he hardly had any shorts that fit, we had planned to go shopping, so we set out not long after the stores opened.  And by "we", I mean me, Jackson, and the lone Capri Sun {a.k.a. "juice!!!"} that he somehow spotted in the back of our fridge that I wasn't willing to put up a fight for.
He ended up falling asleep on the way there, which I was somewhat hoping would happen so that he could make it all the way to normal naptime and be at least somewhat well behaved while shopping in the meantime.  I ended up waking him up shortly after we got there to go in, but part of me thought about forgoing the shopping trip altogether and taking a nap with him instead.
Thankfully we found all sorts of cute shorts for him {despite the fact that he was not interested in trying on a single pair}, and his Easter kicks also came in the mail today, which I was super excited about, too.  Online shopping -- definitely the way to go!
I've recently decided that of all the pictures I take of Jackson, the ones of him and Ben together are definitely my favorite.
They're usually blurry and quite often the opposite of perfectly-posed, but thanks to the digital era, I'm able to snap away until I get one clear enough to show just how much fun my boys have together...
...which, to me, is picture perfect.
