Dear Baby Dean -- It's hard to believe that two whole months have come and gone since you so quickly came into this world. Okay, okay...it's technically been two months and one week because, well, you know...second kid problems. But, it's not entirely for the reasons that you might think.
You are my second born, but the fact that I'm a few days late in getting these pictures taken and this letter written doesn't not mean that you play second fiddle in anyway. I obviously love you with all my heart and have every intention of doing all the same things that I did the first time around with Jackson, but this time, it's just different. First of all, I don't have nearly the amount of free time that I did when Jackson was a baby, and when I do get an extra moment, I'm a lot more inclined to sit with you and soak up your sweetness than I am to knock things off my never-ending to-do list. Because you are my second baby, I know just how quickly time passes, and before I know it, you too will be a toddler who is too busy to sit in my lap and is no longer interested in being kissed 200 times a day.
Thankfully, you're a good sport now though. You love nothing more than to be held and cuddled {especially if it includes eating}, and I love it, too. You continue to be the sweetest, most laid-back, go-with-the-flow baby, and for that, I am so thankful. Your dad and I have always said that two kids is the perfect number for us, but you're just so sweet, it makes me think I could handle at least five more.
I love you more than you will ever know and feel so blessed that God chose me to be your mom. I know I'm biased, but you are truly the best of the best.
Love,
Mommy
{2 MONTH STATS}
Measurements:
- Weight: 14 pounds 6.5 ounces
- Length: 22.5 inches
Sizes:
- Clothes: Moving out of 0-3 and into 3-6 months
- Diapers: size 2
Eating: During the day, you eat every 3 hours, and sometimes even more often than that. There are days that I feel like all I do is feed you, but because you get so much milk during the day, you are now sleeping through the night, so I can't complain too much. Your last feeding of the day is usually around 11 pm, and these days, you don't wake up again until 5 or 6 am. I never know what the feeding "schedule" will be like until we get up that morning, but thankfully I'm a lot more go-with-the-flow this time around and much more comfortable feeding you while out and about than I ever was with Jackson. I primarily nurse you at all of your feedings, but we still give you a bottle every now and then, too. I'm not entirely sure how many ounces you take each feeding, but if I had to guess, it's probably around 7.
Sleeping: You don't sleep as much as you did your first month of life, but you still sleep quite a bit. You're usually up only about an hour or so after each feeding and then go to sleep until it's time to eat again. These days, you nap either on your belly in the co-sleeper or in your swing, and a lot of times, you nap in your car seat while on the go. At night, you still sleep in our room, and to be honest, I'm not entirely sure when we'll move you out. We moved Jackson into his own room at 9 weeks mostly because Ben would wake Jackson up when he was getting ready for work, but you seem to be a much heavier sleeper, so it doesn't seem to be much of a problem so far. Right now you are sleeping 6-7 hours each night, and we are so thankful for that. After your last feeding, we swaddle you with the Miracle Blanket, lay you in the co-sleeper, and you fall asleep almost immediately.
Likes:
- Eating -- I'm pretty sure this is your very favorite!
- Taking baths in our big tub with Jackson
- Riding in the car, which puts you right to sleep {unless you are hungry}
- The side-to-side setting on your swing
- Laying on your changing table and "talking" to us
- Being held so that you are looking out when standing up or walking around
- Laying in either ours or Jackson's bed {apparently they're more comfortable than a crib}
- Getting a clean diaper
- The taste of the gas drops
Dislikes:
- Doing anything other than eating when you're hungry/starving
- Doing your neck stretches for your torticollis
- When you have gas
