Please keep G and everybody else in my family in your prayers as we've been on quite the emotional roller coaster the past few weeks. G has been in and out of the hospital since July 5th after her heart started acting up and she felt short of breath, and then two weeks ago, the doctors did a CT scan and saw that her lymph nodes were swollen and had spots of them. They ended up doing a biopsy that next week and told us that it appeared to be lymphoma. Later that week though, the test results came back that it wasn't lymphoma after all. We were obviously thrilled, but because she still wasn't doing well, they did more extensive testing and told us at the end of last week that she does in fact have lymphoma. Needless to say, we're having a pretty hard time -- except for G who says "if the Lord is ready for me, I'm ready for Him". Being that she is 84 years old and has lived such a good life, G has decided that she doesn't want any type of treatment or any medicine that is going to prolong her life. Thankfully, she isn't in any pain, but the cancer has caused her sodium levels to drop, which we have recently found out causes both confusion and fatigue. Her doctor released her from the hospital today, so she is at home now, and my mom is staying with her. Hospice is coming tomorrow, but we're not really sure how long we have with her, so we're just trying to take it day-by-day, minimize the number of emotional breakdowns, and treasure the time that we do have.
I went over to G's house tonight and spent the evening with G, my mom, Holly, and Audrey. We had a great time hanging out in G's bed with her -- looking at old photos and telling stories from the past. While laying in bed, I also realized that there's a picture that I've always wanted but have yet to take, and here it is. 3 generations of the exact same legs -- G, Holly, and my mom.
I'm so thankful that G is looking forward to what she calls her "glorious reunion in Heaven" where she'll get to see her parents, her sister Betty, her brother-in-law Harold, her husband Jack, her brother-in-law Jimmy, her son Richard, her grandson Cody, all of the pets that she's ever owned, and so many other loved ones, but I am REALLY going to miss her.
